The Notebook

This Movie is exactly what it looks like from the previews and posters, a sappy love story where the star crossed lovers overcome all obstacles to be with each other, however, it's one of the best movies in this genre to come out in a very long time. Noah and Ally are in love, but without the approval of her parents, things take a bad turn, and they are separated for a few years, he continues with his dreams, and she goes on to be engaged, convinced that her love was just a summer fling. Fate steps in, and they meet again, and they find that what they felt never went away, and they are really meant for each other after all, but what is to become of the engagement, and the social differences? The story is told through the readings of Noah as an adult to Ally as an adult who has Alzheimers, or some similar memory loss sickness. He reads to her from the notebook of their life, and she remembers every day how she loved him, and aren't old people in love just so sweet? Anyway, the movie has good resolution, and I will admit, I was crying when it was over, so sue me, it was well acted, beautifully shot, and had a good story, a most memorable and noble production.

B+
